National Weather Service Standards

In 2003, the City of Danville was awarded Virginia's first StormReady certification by the National Weather Service (NWS). StormReady communities have met a number of standards set by the NWS.

The City of Danville's Fire Department division of Emergency Management has shown itself to be prepared for the onslaught of severe weather through better planning, education, and awareness.
