Are you interested in becoming a homeowner?

The City of Danville would like to help.

The City of Danville believes that the building blocks for a strong and vibrant city are stable and resilient neighborhoods. Stable and resilient neighborhoods consist of homeowners with a mix of incomes, races/ethnicities, and ages. In order to help build this type of neighborhood, the City offers many programs that assist low and moderate income residents become homeowners, Details about the programs, and how to apply are highlighted below.

Down Payment Assistance

The Down Payment Assistance Program is temporarily on hold at this time.

This program assists low and moderate income residents buy a home anywhere throughout the City by offering up to 50 percent of the lender required down payment. The home must meet HOME Quality Standards as determined by a City inspector. All eligible applicants are required to complete a First Time Homebuyers counseling program. The classes are held at The Center for Housing Education at 502 Franklin Street. To learn more about this program, contact Maya Hairston, Resident Program Manager at 434-799-2343.

Housing Rehabilitation

This program provides low and moderate income residents with 0% interest loan that is forgivable after five to ten years for home rehabilitation. The program will address all code related issues such as a leaking roof, heating, plumbing, and electrical. More information about the program is available at the Housing and Development office at City Hall, Room 211.

Housing Counseling & Financial Coaching Services

Telamon - TRC is a nonprofit organization which seeks to empower individuals and families to build better lives for themselves and to build stronger communities. They offer a variety of Housing & Financial Empowerment programs and services, specializing in Financial Management & Budget Counseling, Credit Education, Pre-Purchase Homebuyer Programs, Rental Education & Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention & Loss Mitigation Services and Personal Financial Coaching Programs.
