Making Formal Bids

When formal bids are required, several steps are involved:

• Prepare specifications
• Give public notice of the Invitation to Bid at least 15 days prior to the date set for the receipt of bids by posting the invitation on the Purchasing Bulletin Board
• Notify all vendors who have requested to be put on the vendor list for the commodity advertised
• Hold pre-bid conferences for complex equipment or services to give prospective vendors an opportunity to ask questions regarding specifications
• Hold a public bid opening; all interested parties will be invited to attend
