Mission Statement
The mission of the Danville Sheriff's Office Eddie Eagle Gun Safety program is to educate area children about the importance of gun safety and to promote gun safety in the home by supplying parents with the resources and information they need to carry out this endeavor
Eddie Eagle Program Requests
Schools, Church Groups or other youth oriented programs should contact the Danville Sheriff's Office at 434-799-5135 to request a presentation or program materials. This information will be forwarded to the coordinator of the program to be reviewed for an appropriate date and time for the presentation.
Program Funding
Funding for the Eddie Eagle Gun Safety Program is provided at no cost to city residents by a generous grant from the National Rifle Association. The NRA offers several such training programs at no cost on a first come first served basis to law enforcement agencies across the nation. The NRA does not promote a gun rights or gun ownership agenda with this program, but simply strives to aide law enforcement in educating the public on the topic of general firearm safety.
Program Goals
The Danville Sheriff's Office is actively pursuing several avenues of funding to acquire an Eddie Eagle Mascot suite to further enhance the teaching and interaction with area children.
