Obtaining a Permit

Applying for a Permit

To see if a permit is required for your project, call the Inspections Office at 434-799-5260 ext 2487. If required, you may come to our office to fill out an application. You may also obtain a permit application online and email the completed application to our office.

In some cases, permits may be obtained on a mail-in or call-in basis. These permits are intended for simple and routine replacement projects, such as:

• Alterations to electrical systems, such as increasing size of service
• Replacing gas and oil heating equipment
• Repairing or replacing deck boards (non-structural)
• Relocating or adding plumbing fixtures
