Member of Council since March 2008 when appointed to fill a vacancy due to resignation. Served as Vice-Mayor from 2014-2016 and 2020 to 2024.
Gary P. Miller, M.D. F.A.C.C., a local cardiologist, was appointed to City Council in 2008 to fill an unexpired term. Dr. Miller received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1970 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg and his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia.
He was the Fifth District representative to the Virginia Board of Medicine, appointed by Governor Allen from 1997 to 2001. Since 1997, Dr. Miller has served as a Counselor to the Medical Society of Virginia for the Fifth District. He is the owner and President of Cardiology Consultants of Danville, Inc. Dr. Miller currently serves on the Danville Utility Commission and the Danville-Pittsylvania County RIFA.
