The Danville Fire Department responded to 107 Bishop Ave. for a reported structure fire @ 1908 hours. Upon arrival, DFD units found heavy smoke and fire showing from the front of the home and also from the basement area. DFD responded with an initial assignment of 3 Engines, 1 Tower Ladder, 1 Safety Unit, and 1 Command unit consisting of 15 personnel. DFD personnel worked feverishly in extreme heat to contain and extinguish the fire. The home was searched for any occupants and pets and none were found. All occupants and pets had exited the home prior to our arrival and no injuries were reported. DFD remained on scene for 3 1/2 hours searching for any hidden fire and overhauling the fire areas. Additional units were called to the scene throughout the evening in order to rotate fire crews due to the extreme hot and humid weather. DFD was assisted on scene by: Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Water and Gas, Danville Electric, Danville PD. The occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross.
