During the month of February, stop by the Ruby B. Archie Public Library to:

  • Engage with displays and resources honoring Black History Month
  • Discover some of Danville's most important people and places through special exhibits
  • Attend educational Black History Month programs

Mission

The mission of Seen & Heard is to honor Danville's local Black History, celebrate local Black heroes both past and present, and amplify current Black voices throughout our community.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS


Feb 1- "The Movement 1963" 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Attend a special screening of this documentary which sheds light on the local Civil Rights Movement evens of 1963. Program provided in partnership with and hosted by the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History. Light refreshments served. Ages 18 and up. Register here or call (434) 799-5195.

Feb 10- Reader's Theatre "A Raisin in the Sun" 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Plays are best when we experience them together so read a role or just read along! This is not a performance. Scripts will be provided during the program. Ages 18 and up. Registration is required. Call (434) 799-5195. Register here.

Feb 20- March Through the Stacks 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Join the march to learn about important historical figures in fun and engaging hands-on experiments and activities. All ages welcome. Registration is required. Call (434) 799-5195. Register here.

Feb 24- Unrequired Reading- "Their Eyes Were Watching God" 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
