Fair Housing

What is Fair Housing?

Fair Housing is the allowance of people to freely choose a place to live without discrimination due to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin.

Where we live affects how others view us and how we view ourselves.
Where we live determines:

  • Our feelings of success or failure
  • Education received by our children
  • Professional and social associations in the community
  • Physical danger we are exposed to
  • Values and expectations opened to us
  • Kinds of job opportunities nearby

Purpose of the Fair Housing Ordinance of the City of Danville

The Fair Housing Ordinance of the City of Danville prevents any person from:

  • Denying housing accommodations to any person because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin.
  • Discriminating against any person because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin with respect to the terms, conditions or privileges of housing accommodations or in the furnishing of facilities or services in connection therewith.

If you believe that you have been denied fair housing, you may contact the Fair Housing office at (434)-799-6413.
