Community Partnerships

In 2021, the City of Danville started working with O-I, a national company with a facility in Ringgold, to support our recycling program. Glass recycled in Danville through drop-off or curbside are taken to O-I to be cleaned, processed, and recycled into new glass products. This is part of the company's sustainability and social impact program called Glass4Good. The weight of recycled glass is converted into a dollar amount which is then donated to the Danville-Pittsylvania County United Way.

Who Benefits?

Our local United Way directs funds to local programs. Third Chance Housing, an organization that has worked to alleviate homelessness and housing insecurity in Danville since 2012, is the beneficiary for 2025 Glass4Good funds.

Past recipients have included God's Storehouse Urban Garden Program, the Danville Pittsylvania Cancer Association to help fund travel, prescriptions, supplies, and emotional support to our neighbors fighting cancer, and to Bookends to provide programs to help students read at grade level by third grade.
