A 14-year-old has been charged with second degree murder by the Danville Police Department following his involvement in the May 1 homicide of Marcus Hairston, 37, at Woodside Village Apartments.
In addition to second degree murder, the 14-year-old has also been charged with two counts of malicious wounding, three counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony and one count of underage possession of a firearm.
The juvenile suspect has been in custody on unrelated charges since becoming a person of interest in the homicide on May 2. The second suspect also remains in custody on unrelated charges.
Shortly after midnight on Monday, May 1, officers responded to the 1300 block of Piney Forest Road and found Hairston suffering from fatal gunshot wounds, and two others individuals with non-life threatening gunshot related injuries. Hairston was pronounced dead at the scene.
