The Danville Office of Economic Development & Tourism has recently awarded over $200,000 in grants to 29 small businesses to support expansion and marketing efforts.
Restaurants had the opportunity to apply for payment or reimbursement of up to $25,000 in efforts to expand their small business. Qualifying expenses included shelters, tents, awnings, furniture, signage, fencing, construction costs, heating lamps, and outdoor cooling systems.
Businesses could also apply for payment or reimbursement of up to $3,000 to enhance marketing and ecommerce efforts. Qualifying expenses included website development, advertising, promotional materials, and design services.
“Small businesses play a crucial role in the local economy,” Mayor Alonzo Jones said. “The support provided through these grants can play a significant role in helping them cover various expenses related to expansion, adapting to changing customer behavior, and driving customer engagement. It’s a win-win situation. When our small businesses thrive, our city thrives.”
The grant program is funded through the city’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation, a federal economic stimulus bill designed to support small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
