On November 17th, at 1:46AM, the Danville Fire Department was dispatched to 328 Brentwood Drive for a report of a structure fire. Dispatch "Alarm" notified responding units there were multiple phone calls of the fire showing heavy fire and smoke. All units were enroute by 1:48AM and the first arriving fire engine arrived at 1:52AM. The fire is still under investigation by the Pittsylvania County Fire Marshal's office. The bulk of the fire was on the carport, which involved the vehicle, and laundry room. The fire spread to the house, and the neighbors house. The fire was contained and extinguished by three fire engines, one ladder truck, one safety unit, and one command unit. There were a total of sixteen firefighters, one police officer, and four Danville Life Saving Crew members on scene.
Engine 5 arrived on scene with a report of "heavy fire and smoke showing". They began the arduous task of fire extinguishment and established 'command'. Safety 1 arrived and assumed the safety role. Ladder 1 arrived and assisted with extinguishment, search and rescue, and utilities control. Battalion 1 arrived and took command of the operation. Engine 2 was on scene shortly after and assisted with water supply and pulling a back up fire hose to assist with extinguishment efforts. Engine 1 established water supply and assumed the (Rapid Intervention Crew) R.I.C. role. The Danville Police Department controlled traffic and performed scene security. The Danville Life Saving Crew provided firefighter rehabilitation, and recovery. They also provided a warm location for the occupant of the burned home to stay during the incident.
