On Friday, June 20, the Danville Police Department’s 10 newest officers graduated from Session 34 of the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy.
Those officers, Jacob Adkins, Matthew Davis, Tristyn Hall, Evan Hawker, Joshua Gorrera, Jeremy Lovelace, Jayquan Morton, Isaac Shifflett, Candace Shively, and Hugh Wyatt, Jr. completed entry level law enforcement along with 11 others from across the region.
Officers from the Danville Police Department earned several awards during Session 34. Gorrera earned three awards, including the physical fitness award, the academic leader award, and second place in weapons. Lovelace earned the president’s award as selected by his peers. He also delivered a speech to the class of graduates. Shifflett earned first place in weapons.
The class also presented two instructor awards for dedication to the class and time spent with them among other accolades. Earning those awards from the Danville Police Department was Lt. Evan Wilson and Sgt. Ian Smith.
The Danville Police Department now has 125 of 130 officer positions filled.
